Planting trees to benefit future generations.
You may request a particular park for your tree, or let the Parks Department’s horticulturist choose a location for you. Tree costs vary according to size and species. Planting takes place in March/April and October/November.
Gifts of any size are appreciated and can be combined to purchase trees, bushes, or shrubbery. You will be mailed a certificate with a description of the tree and a map of its location.

We are no longer planting trees in the following parks: Kister Park, Berthold Square Park, Frontier Park, Westwinds Park, Forget Me Not Park, Woodlands Park.
A Memorial Tree will be chosen in consultation with the Parks and Recreation Department's horticulturist, who will adhere to the tree planting plan adopted by the St. Charles Parks and Recreation Department. Species of trees planted will be determined based upon planting location and tree type needed for the chosen park site. Trees will be closely monitored and professionally maintained by Parks and Recreation Department staff.
Depending upon availability, tree type selection includes, but is not limited to, the following varieties:
- Red Maple – Acer Rubrum
- Sugar Maple – Acer Saccharinum
- Ginkgo – Ginkgo Biloba
- Kentucky Coffeetree – Gymnocladus Dioica
- Bur Oak – Quercus Macrocarpa
- White Oak – Quercus Alba
- Swamp White Oak – Quercus bicolor
- Linden – Tilia Americana
- Tulip Tree – Liriodendron Tulipfera
- Triumph Elm - Ulmusx Morton Glossy
- Crabapple - Malus (Cultivar)
- Magnolia - Magnolia (Cultivar)
